Swimming Pool Tiles Laying

When it comes to laying swimming pool tiles, there are several important steps to follow. Let’s break down the process:

1). Prepare the Surface:
Ensure the pool surface is clean, smooth, and free from debris, oils, and grease.
Use a pressure washer to remove any dirt or residue.
If there are existing tiles, carefully remove them using a chisel and hammer.

2). Plan and Layout:
Design the tile layout on dry land before installation.
Consider the pattern, color, and alignment of the tiles.

3). Apply the Plaster (if needed):
Plastering is the process of applying plaster to the walls of the pool.
It helps cover the rough surface of the pool and protects it from water.
Plastering can be done before tiling, but some pools may be left without tiles.

4). Apply Swimming Pool Thin-Set Mortar:
Thin-set mortar is a specialized adhesive used for tiling.
Apply a thin layer of thin-set mortar to the back of each tile using a notched trowel.

5). Install Tiles:
Start laying the tiles from the bottom up.
Wet the tiling surface with a wet sponge (but do not soak it).
Use a wet saw to cut the tiles to size for precise cuts.
Press each tile into the thin-set mortar, ensuring proper alignment.

6). Grout:
Once the tiles are in place, apply grout between them.
Use a rubber float to spread the grout evenly.
Wipe off excess grout with a damp sponge.

7). Let Dry:
Allow the tiles and grout to dry completely before filling the pool with water.
Remember that choosing the right type of pool tiles is essential. They should be durable, slip-resistant, and resistant to pool chemicals and water. Dark blue, Orient blue, white, new blue, and black are popular colors for pool tiles. Enjoy your beautifully tiled swimming pool!
